Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber’s status with the team has been a hot topic of discussion this off-season. Barber broke Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett’s team dress code in November and had a run-in with the LAPD in February, to mention a few negative instances. Barber’s high salary adds to team owner and general manager Jerry Jones’ comments on Thursday night during the first round of the NFL Draft that Barber will not be a Dallas Cowboys in 2011. (more…)

Defensive Backs Available for Dallas Cowboys in 2nd Round of NFL Draft

Several fans were disappointed the Dallas Cowboys did not select a cornerback with the No. 9 overall pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft. The team addressed a huge need on the offensive line by drafting USC offensive tackle Tyron Smith. Surprisingly, two highly-touted cornerbacks and the top safety in this year’s draft class are still available heading into the second and third rounds on Friday night. Jerry Jones: Marc Colombo Won’t be a Dallas Cowboy in 2011

Those who have been fans of the Dallas Cowboys for any period of time since 1989 know that Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones speaks his own language. Here in the DFW, we like to call that language Jerry Speak. During the NFL Draft on Thursday night, Jones gave us plenty of it. When you’ve heard a lot of it, you learn how to decipher it into pure English. Upon the Cowboys’ drafting of USC offensive tackle Tyron Smith in the first round of the draft, we translated Jones saying that Dallas right tackle Marc Colombo won’t be a Cowboy in 2011. (more…)

2011 NFL Draft First Round Complete

The NFL completed the first round of its annual draft on Thursday night. There were several surprises and last-minute trades. Auburn quarterback Cam Newton was no surprise to the Carolina Panthers at No. 1 overall, but a shocking move sent Alabama receiver Julio Jones to the Atlanta Falcons. Dallas Cowboys Select USC’s Tyron Smith With Ninth Overall Pick in 2011 NFL Draft

With the No. 9 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys surprised no one by selecting Tyron Smith, the offensive tackle from USC. With the offensive line in Dallas beginning to deteriorate, Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones got smart and listened to head coach Jason Garrett. Smith will make an immediate impact on the team, especially if right tackle Marc Colombo is not kept for the 2011 season. (more…)
