During the Indianapolis Colts’ 36-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday night, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning heard something he’s never heard before. Early in the third quarter, the fans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis booed loudly as the Chargers continued to score points off turnovers. With multiple articles posted already this week about the fall of the Colts’ football empire, I may be in the minority, but I think people are losing their marbles. The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Indianapolis this weekend to play the Colts in a very meaningful game for both teams, albeit for different reasons. If you’re one of those who are giving up on Manning, and especially if you’re a Cowboys fan, you need to wake up. I’m a die-hard Dallas fanatic and I’m terrified of Sunday’s trip to Indy. Manning is coming off a game that looks horrendous in the box score, but when you examine the Colts-Chargers game, you should be worried about the Cowboys this week. (more…)

The Dallas Cowboys have activated undrafted rookie safety Andrew Sendejo to the 53-man roster. Less than a week after signing the Rice product to the practice squad, the Cowboys cut defensive end Jimmy Saddler-McQueen to make room for Sendejo, whom they hope will challenge safety Alan Ball in the Dallas secondary. Replacing Sendejo on the practice squad is defensive end Alex Daniels. After spending a short stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneer during mini camp, Sendejo played this season for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL. Sendejo’s 48 tackles ranked second in the UFL and the rookie also deflected seven passes and recorded two interceptions. With Ball struggling as of late, don’t be surprised to see Sendejo in the thick of things right off the bat.

On Sunday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its 26 semifinalists for the 2011 class. Former Dallas Cowboys Deion Sanders and Charles Haley are both among those 26 in consideration for the NFL’s highest honor. A defensive end for Dallas from 1992 to 1996, Haley was a semifinalist last year, but was not inducted. A cornerback for the Cowboys from 1995-1996, Sanders is a first-time semifinalist and is most likely a lock to make the Hall on this, his first ballet. Fifteen modern-era finalists will be chosen from the 26 semifinalists and then two other recommended candidates from the Hall’s Seniors Committee will be added to make the list of 17 finalists. The next step of reducing the 26 semifinalists to the 15 modern-era finalists will be done in January. The other 24 semifinalists include: Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Don Coryell, Roger Craig, Terrell Davis, Dermontti Dawson, Edward DeBartolo, Jr., Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, Marshall Faulk, Kevin Greene, Ray Guy, Lester Hayes, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin, Art Modell, Andre Reed, Willie Roaf, Ed Sabol, Shannon Sharpe, Paul Tagliabue, Aeneas Williams and George Young. 25 Oct 1992: Defensive lineman Charles Haley of the Dallas Cowboys looks on during a game against the Los Angeles Raiders at the Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. During the Cowboys’ 30-27 loss to the Saints on Thanksgiving, rookie receiver Dez Bryant pulled a T.O. No, he didn’t turn the ball over. In fact, he didn’t record a single reception. In the midst of his least productive day as a pro, Bryant showed his frustration on the field. The Oklahoma State product was seen throwing his hands up and shaking his head and yelling to anyone who would listen. Afterward, former Cowboys receiver Drew Pearson was interviewed about the incident on KESN-FM. (more…)

Cowboys’ Choice Finds Humor in Brawl Between Texans’ Johnson; Titans’ Finnegan

Dallas Cowboys running back Tashard Choice apparently tuned in for the Texans-Titans game on Sunday. Since the Boys played on Thanksgiving, all the players were off on Sunday and watched other NFL action. Like Choice, those who watched the Houston-Tennessee game saw Texans receiver Andre Johnson stick Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan with two haymakers and then finish him off with an uppercut in a helmetless brawl at Reliant Stadium. Finnegan had been taunting and jabbing Johnson all game and the receiver warned his defender to stop. “He kept doing little things and I told him: ‘Just because you’re frustrated, you need to stop what you’re doing,’” Johnson said. “I guess he thought it was funny.” Finnegan stuck his hands into Johnson’s facemask before a running play in the fourth quarter after Johnson calmly told him to stop. The two players then ripped each other’s helmet off and Johnson made Finnegan regret his actions. The 6’3”, 225-pound Johnson caught Finnegan’s jaw twice with solid punches and then clocked him with an uppercut punch that knocked him backward before Johnson was restrained. Choice shared his feelings on the ‘fight’ afterward via Twitter. (more…)
