[picappgallerysingle id="7049493"]The Dallas Cowboys might just have the best ground attack in the NFC East. Mike Shanahan is the new head coach at Washington, so the Redskins’ rushing game will definitely improve this season. LeSean McCoy is an excellent running back, but it’s a proven fact that Eagles coach Andy Reid does not know that you can handoff in football. The Giants can run the football with their 1-2 punch combo of bruiser Brandon Jacobs and speedster Ahmad Bradshaw. The Cowboys have something that none of their division rivals possess – a three-headed monster. Can the Cowboys running back committee out rush the other teams in the NFC East? (more…)

[picappgallerysingle id="8288496"]Sean Lee completed the signings of all the Cowboys’ 2010 draft picks early yesterday morning. This mean that all of the Cowboys’ draft picks will report to training camp this afternoon at the Alamodome. The former Penn State linebacker was chosen by Dallas in the second round of April’s draft, and 55th overall. Lee is the last of the Cowboys’ seven draft picks to agree to terms, and signed the same four-year deal as all the others, excluding first-round pick Dez Bryant. Lee will earn $320,000 from Dallas this year, with that total increasing annually through the life of his contract. Lee totaled 325 tackles as a three-year starter for the Nittany Lions. At 6’1” and 236 pounds, Lee will compete with last year’s third-round pick Jason Williams for the nickel linebacker position. Lee will also back up veterans Bradie James and Keith Brooking. Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said Lee will see significant playing time this season.

[picappgallerysingle id="1864988"]The Cowboys will play the Bengals in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio on the second Sunday in August. Since these teams have been selected to wrap up the yearly Hall of Fame enshrinement festivities, they will both play one more preseason game than the other 30 NFL teams. This extra exhibition game will benefit several Cowboys’ players, including new draftees and journeymen trying to find an NFL home. However, stars like DeMarcus Ware and Felix Jones dread the extra “practice.” The Cowboys will use the extra game to answer several important questions leading into the 2010 season. (more…)

Bryant is the first of all the first-round draft picks to agree to terms with his team. Bryant’s half-decade deal is worth a total of $11.8 million, with $8.3 million of that guaranteed. Bryant collected $2.5 million as a signing bonus, and will earn a base salary of $320,000 this fall. Bryant has agreed to terms faster than expected, well in time for him to be dressed for opening practice in the Alamodome this Saturday afternoon. (more…)

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with supplemental draft pick Josh Brent. Dallas selected Brent in last year’s annual supplemental draft, an online affair conducted after the regular NFL draft for players who miss the filing deadline for the draft or were ruled academically or athletically ineligible. Brent is expected to officially sign his three-year rookie deal with Cowboys tomorrow. A college standout for the Illinois Illini, Brent is expected to compete with veteran Junior Siavii and draft pick Sean Lissemore for a backup spot behind All-Pro defensive tackle Jay Ratliff. The fact that Jerry Jones gave up his 2011 seventh-round pick to take Brent suggests he has some confidence in the academically challenged defensive tackle. It is highly unlikely that Brent will make the 53-man roster for the regular season, but at least he’s now guaranteed to go through training camp in San Antonio. Do not expect to see Brent against any division rivals during the regular season. If anyone bumps Siavii for a roster spot, it will be Lissemore. Brent’s tenure as a Cowboy will be short-lived. Apologies to any of Brent’s relatives.
